Amy is a graduate of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy’s 3000-hour program. Upon graduation she returned to the sunny Okanagan to commence her career as a Registered Massage Therapist. Several years into the profession, Amy remains passionate about her career choice and committed to furthering her knowledge as a practitioner.

Amy understands the complexities of the musculoskeletal system and realizes that to accurately and safely satisfy an individual’s treatment, there must first be a thorough assessment. This assessment will determine the appropriate and most beneficial course of treatment. Amy utilizes a variety of both passive and active treatment modalities, which include: myofascial release, joint mobilizations, muscle energy techniques, trigger point therapy, PNF stretching and Swedish massage. These modalities commonly apply to: sports/work related injuries, neurological disorders, whiplash injuries, headaches and chronic pain. Regardless of an individual’s injury, disorder, or pain sufferance, Amy encourages and assists patients to be proactive in their treatment and recovery by prescribing appropriate homecare and remedial exercise. This can decrease rehabilitation time and aid in preventing further injury.

Amy’s career in massage therapy was seeded by an injury suffered in her youth while playing competitive sports. Through the course of her rehabilitation she gained both knowledge of and interest for musculoskeletal anatomy, chronic pain treatments, and the rehabilitation process. She knows that soft tissue injuries have the potential to be both invasive and lifestyle altering. Rehabilitation should not be viewed as merely an inconvenience to be endured at the time of injury, but rather as an ongoing, proactive approach facilitating long-term physical health and injury prevention.
